Effective date: 1 October 2026
CRAVE Social is an app for adults aged 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind. This page sets out our standards, how we prevent and respond to CSAE, and how to report concerns to us.
Our standards
The following are strictly prohibited on CRAVE and will result in immediate, permanent removal of the account and a report to the appropriate authorities:
- any person under the age of 18 using or appearing on CRAVE, including on a couple profile;
- creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, linking to or possessing child sexual abuse material, including photos, drawings, cartoons, computer-generated or AI-generated imagery and text;
- any content that sexualises minors, including "age play" content that depicts or implies a participant is a minor;
- grooming – befriending or communicating with a minor, or with someone you believe to be a minor, for sexual purposes;
- sextortion – threatening to share intimate images of a minor or coercing a minor into producing them;
- trafficking or advertising minors for sexual purposes in any form;
- using CRAVE to arrange contact with a minor or to share information that could help others harm children.
How we prevent CSAE
- 18+ only. Every member must confirm they are 18 or over and provide a date of birth (for couples, both people) when signing up. Ages under 18 cannot be entered. Our app store age rating is 18+ / Mature.
- Photos are moderated before they go live. Every photo uploaded to CRAVE is reviewed before other members can see it. Photos that show, or appear to show, anyone under 18 are rejected and escalated. Members can upload photos only – not videos.
- Automated and human review. We use automated signals to support our trained moderators in identifying accounts and content that may involve minors, and we may require an age or identity check from any account.
- Public text rules. Contact details are not allowed in public profile text, which makes it harder to move conversations off the platform.
- Prevention of repeat abuse. We keep limited identifiers of banned accounts to help prevent them from registering again.
- Training. Our moderators are trained to recognise signs of underage users, grooming and CSAM, and to escalate them immediately.
How to report
- In the app: open the profile, photo, Quickie or chat, tap the menu, choose Report and select "Appears Under 18". Reports are confidential and are prioritised for immediate review.
- By email: safety@cravesocial.co.za. Please include the member's username and a description of your concern. Please do not send us copies of any images that may be child sexual abuse material – describe where you saw them instead.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services right away.
How we respond
- Reports of suspected minors or CSAE are given the highest priority and reviewed as quickly as possible, 7 days a week.
- We immediately remove the content and suspend or permanently ban the account(s) involved.
- We preserve relevant evidence securely, as required by law, so it can be provided to law enforcement.
- We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via the CyberTipline and to other relevant national authorities and hotlines where we operate, such as the Internet Watch Foundation (UK), the Australian eSafety Commissioner and the Film and Publication Board (South Africa).
- We cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations and respond to valid legal requests.
Compliance with child safety laws
We comply with all applicable child safety laws and regulations in the countries where CRAVE is available, including laws requiring the reporting of CSAM to the relevant authorities. We regularly review these standards and our processes to make sure they remain effective.
Child safety point of contact
Our designated child safety point of contact is [CHILD SAFETY OFFICER NAME / ROLE], who can be reached at safety@cravesocial.co.za. They are responsible for our CSAE prevention practices and compliance, and can speak to our processes and the action we take.
