Effective date: 1 October 2026
Welcome to CRAVE Social ("CRAVE", "we", "us" or "our"). These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you and [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], a company registered in [COUNTRY OF INCORPORATION] under company number [COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER], with its registered address at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. They govern your access to and use of the CRAVE Social mobile applications for iOS and Android, the website at cravesocial.co.za and any related services (together, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully, together with our Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, Safety Tips and Child Safety Standards, which form part of these Terms. By creating an account or using the Service you confirm that you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Important: Section 19 contains provisions about how disputes are resolved. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you.
1. Eligibility – adults only (18+)
CRAVE Social is strictly for adults. To create an account or use the Service you must:
- be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher);
- be legally able to enter into a binding contract with us;
- not be prohibited from using the Service under the laws of your country or any applicable sanctions;
- not have been convicted of, or be subject to any court order or registration requirement relating to, a sexual offence or an offence involving violence against another person;
- not have had a CRAVE account previously removed by us for breaching these Terms or our Community Guidelines, unless we have given you written permission to return.
Age verification. When you sign up you must confirm that you are 18 or over and provide your date of birth (and, for a couple profile, the date of birth of each person). We only show ages that are 18 or over. We use a combination of self-declaration, moderation of every photo before it goes live, automated signals and member reports to identify accounts that may belong to someone under 18. We may ask you to verify your age or identity at any time and may suspend an account while we do so. Any account we reasonably believe belongs to, or is being used by, a person under 18 will be removed immediately. See our Child Safety Standards.
Couple profiles. If you create a profile for a couple, you confirm that both people are 18 or over, that both have read and agreed to these Terms, and that both consent to the profile, its photos and how it is used. Each of you is responsible for activity on the shared account.
2. Your account
- You may register with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google. You must give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- You may only have one account (one account per person or per couple). Accounts are personal and may not be sold, transferred or shared with anyone outside the couple named on the profile.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity on your account. Tell us immediately at support@cravesocial.co.za if you think your account has been accessed without permission.
- We may need to verify your email address before you can use certain features.
3. The Service
CRAVE Social helps adult singles and couples discover and connect with each other. Features include:
- Profiles and Gallery – a profile for a single person (female or male) or a couple (male + female, female + female or male + male), with public photos and optional private photos.
- Swiping, Craves and Super Craves – like or pass on profiles. When two members like each other it's a match.
- Matches and Chat – private one-to-one messaging between matched members.
- Cravings – discovery filters such as distance, age range, profile types and preferences.
- Quickies – short-lived posts (live for a maximum of 48 hours) that invite nearby members to meet up.
- Vouches – short public references you can leave for members you have met in person.
- Incognito mode – limits who can see your profile.
- Gamification – experience points (XP), levels, daily streaks and badges.
The Service is free to use and is supported by advertising. Some features are only available with a CRAVE+ upgrade (see section 9). We are constantly improving CRAVE and may add, change, limit or remove features at any time. Where a change materially reduces a feature you have paid for, we will tell you in advance where reasonably possible and you may have rights under section 9.
We do not guarantee that you will receive any particular number of matches, messages or meet-ups, or that any member will be compatible with you.
4. Your safety and interactions with other members
Your safety matters to us, but you are solely responsible for your interactions with other members, online and offline. Please read our Safety Tips before meeting anyone.
- We do not conduct criminal background checks or identity checks on every member, and we do not verify statements members make about themselves.
- A "Verified" badge means that a member has completed a verification step we offer at the time (for example, a photo check). It is not a guarantee of identity, intentions or behaviour.
- Vouches are the opinion of the member who wrote them. We do not check them for accuracy.
- Always meet for the first time in a public place, tell a friend where you are going and never send money or financial information to anyone you meet through CRAVE.
- Any meeting, activity or relationship with another member must be between consenting adults and must be lawful where you are.
If someone makes you feel unsafe, report them in the app or email safety@cravesocial.co.za. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
5. Content you post
"Your Content" means anything you upload, post or send through the Service, including photos, profile text, Quickies, vouches and messages.
- You own Your Content. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, crop, blur, moderate, display and distribute Your Content solely to operate, provide, secure, improve and promote the Service (we will never use your photos in advertising outside the app without your separate permission). This licence ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time, content we must keep for legal or safety reasons, and messages already delivered to other members (see section 14).
- You are responsible for Your Content. You confirm that you have all rights needed to post it, that everyone who appears in your photos is an adult who has consented to the photo being posted on CRAVE, and that it complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
- Photos only. You can upload photos; video uploads are not supported. Photos are resized and optimised, and embedded metadata (such as EXIF data and GPS location) is removed when they are processed.
- Moderation before publication. Every photo is reviewed before it becomes visible to other members and may be approved or rejected at our discretion. Private photos are shown blurred to members who do not have CRAVE+ or who you have not otherwise allowed to view them.
- Other members can see your public profile, and other members can take screenshots. Do not post anything you would not be comfortable being seen by others.
6. Community Guidelines and prohibited conduct
You must follow our Community Guidelines at all times. In summary, you must not:
- post or send anything involving a person under 18, or any content that sexualises minors in any way – we have zero tolerance and report such material to the authorities;
- post explicit nudity, sexual acts or pornographic content in public photos, profile text or Quickies;
- offer, request or advertise escorting, prostitution, sex work, "sugar" arrangements or any commercial sexual service, or ask for or offer money or gifts in exchange for meeting;
- include contact details (phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, links or messaging-app IDs) in public text such as your username, bio, photos or Quickies;
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against or abuse anyone, or post hateful content;
- impersonate any person, use someone else's photos, create fake or misleading profiles, or misrepresent your age, relationship status or identity;
- share another person's intimate images or private photos without their consent, including screenshots of private photos;
- scam, defraud, solicit money from or attempt to obtain financial information from other members;
- use the Service for any commercial purpose, advertising, spam or promotion without our written permission;
- promote or sell illegal drugs, weapons or any illegal goods or services;
- use bots, scrapers or automated means to access the Service, interfere with its operation, reverse engineer the app or bypass any limits, blur or security measure;
- use the Service in any way that breaks the law.
7. Reporting, blocking and moderation
You can report any profile, photo, Quickie, vouch or message from within the app, and you can block, unmatch or hide members at any time. Blocking a member hides your profile from them and stops them contacting you. Reports are confidential – we do not tell the reported member who reported them.
We use a combination of automated tools and human moderators to review content and reports. We may, at our discretion and without notice, remove or refuse any content, limit features, issue warnings, temporarily suspend or permanently ban an account, and preserve information and report it to law enforcement where we believe that is necessary to protect anyone's safety or comply with the law. We aim to act on reports promptly and prioritise reports involving the safety of children or a risk of harm.
If we take action against your account and you believe we made a mistake, contact support@cravesocial.co.za and we will review the decision. Where local law gives you additional rights to a statement of reasons or to appeal a moderation decision, we will respect those rights.
8. Advertising
The free version of CRAVE is supported by advertising. Adverts may appear between profiles while you swipe and in other places in the app. Adverts are served by third-party ad networks, including Google AdMob. Depending on where you live and the choices you make (for example in our consent message, in the app's privacy settings, or through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt), adverts may be personalised or non-personalised. See our Privacy Policy for details. We are not responsible for the content of third-party adverts or for the products or services they promote. CRAVE+ members do not see adverts.
9. CRAVE+ and in-app purchases
What CRAVE+ is. CRAVE+ is a one-off, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks premium features on your account for the lifetime of the account. At the date of these Terms, CRAVE+ includes: unlimited swipes, seeing who liked you, viewing private photos, posting Quickies, rewinding your last swipe, vouching for members, a CRAVE+ badge and no adverts. The price is shown in the app before you buy (currently US$9.99 or the local equivalent set by the app store, including any applicable taxes). CRAVE+ is not a subscription and does not renew.
- Payment through the app stores. All purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are processed by them under their terms. We do not receive or store your card details.
- "Lifetime" access. CRAVE+ applies to the CRAVE account you were signed in to when you bought it, for as long as that account exists and the Service is offered. It is personal and non-transferable. If your account is banned for breaching these Terms or deleted, CRAVE+ ends and is not refundable by us except where the law requires.
- Restoring purchases. If you reinstall the app or change device, use "Restore Purchases" in the app while signed in to the same store account and CRAVE account.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Google Play: request a refund through your Google Play account or Google Play Help. We cannot issue refunds for app store purchases directly.
- Consumer rights. If you are a consumer in the UK, EU or another country that gives you a right to withdraw from digital content purchases, you agree that CRAVE+ is supplied immediately on purchase and you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once supply begins, to the extent permitted by law. This does not affect your statutory rights if the digital content is faulty or not as described.
- Changes to features. We may improve or change CRAVE+ features over time. We will not materially reduce the core features of CRAVE+ for existing members without reasonable notice; if we do and you are unhappy, contact us and, where the app store permits, we will help you obtain a refund or other fair remedy.
Virtual items and rewards. Super Craves, bonus swipes, XP, levels, streaks and badges are features of the Service. They have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred, and may be changed, reset or removed by us (for example, to fix errors or prevent abuse).
10. Gamification
We award XP, levels, streaks and badges for activity such as completing your profile, logging in, matching and receiving vouches. These are for fun and to encourage positive participation. Attempting to manipulate these systems (for example with multiple accounts or automated activity) is a breach of these Terms.
11. Our intellectual property
The Service, including the CRAVE and CRAVE Social names, logos, app icon, design, software and all content other than Your Content, is owned by or licensed to [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms. You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell or create derivative works from any part of the Service.
If you believe content on CRAVE infringes your copyright or other rights, email legal@cravesocial.co.za with details of the work, where it appears in the Service, your contact details and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorised.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services such as the app stores, Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, push notification services, ad networks and payment processing. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them.
13. Apple and Google
If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, you and we acknowledge that: (a) these Terms are between you and us only, not Apple; (b) we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content; (c) Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app; (d) if the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app, and to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation; (e) we, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection claims; (f) we, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights; (g) you confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties; (h) you must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app; and (i) Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded the app from Google Play, your use of Google Play is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not responsible for the app or these Terms.
14. Ending your account
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or on our website at cravesocial.co.za/delete-account. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, Quickies, swipes, likes, vouches you wrote and notifications are removed and you will no longer appear in discovery. Messages you already sent remain in the other member's conversation history, but your name and photo are replaced with "Deleted User" and they cannot reply. Some information is kept for a limited time as described in our Privacy Policy (for example, purchase records and safety records). Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Account deletion cannot be undone, and any CRAVE+ purchase on the account will be lost.
Suspension or termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your account, or your access to any part of the Service, at any time if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms or our Community Guidelines, that your account poses a risk to other members, to us or to third parties, or where required by law. Where appropriate and lawful we will tell you why. We may also end the Service as a whole on reasonable notice.
Sections 5 (licence for content already shared), 9 (to the extent relevant), 11, 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20 survive termination.
15. Disclaimers
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, or about the conduct of any member or the accuracy of any member content. We do not endorse any member, and we are not responsible for the conduct of any member on or off the Service. Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded.
16. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: (a) we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Service; (b) we are not liable for loss or damage arising from your interactions with other members or third parties, on or off the Service; and (c) our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us (through the app stores) in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$100 (or the equivalent in your local currency).
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
17. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] and its officers, employees and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, Your Content, or your interactions with other members.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the Service or the law. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, unless the change is required urgently for legal or safety reasons. The "Effective date" at the top shows when these Terms last changed. If you continue to use the Service after changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
19. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION], and the courts of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION] have jurisdiction, except that:
- if you are a consumer living in the UK, the EU, Australia, South Africa or another country whose laws give you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or under your local law, you keep those rights and the mandatory consumer protections of your home country continue to apply;
- before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at support@cravesocial.co.za so we can try to resolve the issue informally. We will try to respond within 30 days.
[LAWYER TO CONFIRM: whether to include a binding arbitration clause and class-action waiver for users in the United States, and any EU Online Dispute Resolution / alternative dispute resolution wording.]
20. General
- These Terms (together with the documents referred to in them) are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- If we do not enforce a right immediately, we can still enforce it later.
- We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation (for example, as part of a sale of the business); we will make sure the transfer does not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent.
- Nobody other than you, us and (where stated in section 13) Apple has any right to enforce these Terms.
